Helmed by Boey, an award-winning mixologist whose craft was honed in one of Penang’s pioneering cocktail bistros, ROUND reflects years of dedication, experimentation, and spirit.

Meet the team
Boey’s journey into the world of mixology started in 2018 when he transitioned from being a local barista to a bartender. With little prior knowledge of cocktails, Boey gradually uncovered his passion for the craft. His dedication to learning and improving his skills drove him to excel, even as a newcomer.
He sharpened his foundation as a bartender at a Japanese restaurant and bar, where his appreciation for mixology grew. By 2019, Boey took on the role of Head Bartender at a speakeasy bar, where he continuously refined his techniques and developed his personal style.
Specializing in spirit-forward cocktails, Boey focuses on building complex layers of flavor in each drink. He also ensures that every cocktail is a visual delight, combining taste with carefully crafted aesthetics.
Determined to create his own space, Boey launched Round in 2024, a retro-concept bar in Georgetown, Penang. Round is the embodiment of his passion for craftsmanship and hospitality. It’s a place where guests can experience cocktails that tell a story and enjoy an intimate, welcoming atmosphere.
Boey’s success continued with his recognition as a Top 50 Global Winner of the Hennessy My Way Award in 2023. At Round, his dedication to mixology shines through every drink, offering guests a unique and memorable experience with each visit.
